Flag Design
Dear Student,
Salt Lake City is looking for a new flag to represent our wonderful city and its people, and I think you would be the perfect flag designer. Let me rephrase that, I think you would be the perfect vexillographer -- the fancy name for a person who designs flags.
Young people have the inherent quality of seeing the world -- and our city -- differently, which is just what we need to create a flag that truly represents Salt Lake City. I find your creativity and outside-the-box thinking refreshing and I hope you’ll spend some time to create and submit a flag design. It’s entirely possible that by the end of 2020, it could be flying high from atop flagpole in front of City Hall.
Visit www.slc.gov/flag/ for design and submission criteria.
Oh, and did I mention that the creator of the winning design will be awarded $3,000? If someone is going to win it, it might as well be you.
Take care. I’m so looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Salt Lake City Mayor
